If you listen to the sound of the wind, it will always lead you home...

When single mother Annie Malone purchases a quirky Main Street café on Heron Island, she thinks she's finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the café into a premier upscale bistro. But Annie's life is about to get a lot more complicated.

Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years, Navy SEAL Will Dozier has no intention of selling his grandparents' property to a developer. As he works on renovating the house and trying to find another buyer, he's forced to face a painful reality--that he's secretly struggling with PTSD. Determined to hide his troubles from the rest of the islanders, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him "get his head straight."

The last thing Will expects is to fall in love...with his hometown and with Annie. But Will's life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie's love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

Wind Chime Cafe (A Wind Chime Novel Book 1) eBook Sophie Moss Reviews

How do you heal a Broken Heart? Well I haven't found out that answer yet, but the Wind Chime Café is a great incentive
I first fell in love with the Chesapeake region when I first read James Michener’s epic book and then years later I spend while working back east in the area. What a magical place as I remembered how island disappear and are just under the surface and you must look very closely. So when Sophie Moss’s new Wind Chime Café (trilogy) I was interested, as I thoroughly loved and was enchanted by her Seal Trilogy. Sophie Moss has the ability to bring you into her characters minds, hearts and souls. There is such a lovely pace about her writing, she takes you by the hand and leads you with lovely words and finely woven sentences to where she wants you to be, which is this case is survivors and broken hearts-she takes her pen and stitches together three characters Will (War), Annie (rejection) and Taylor (a shooting). In our world of 5 minute sound bites and 15 minutes of fame, The Wind Chime Café deals with what happens when people forget and the cameras are turned off. It is also a poignant story about love and friendship for three characters that you know have been through an ordeal, yet they do not wallow in their despair, but they go on because faith and trust and eventually love can heal a broken heart…if we are only patient.
This was a good book and kept your interest all the way through. It had one sexual scene in it (I "fast forwarded" through it). Annie does a good job of raising her daughter herself and helping her through a terrible ordeal in her life. She sets out wanting one thing in her live, then realises that is not as important as she thought. Will realizes he can't kill all the terrorist in trying to avenge the deaths of his mother and sister. There is a good message in this book.
Wow! Where do I start? I'll start by saying that I found this story to be a very emotional, gripping, heart-warming, and even a little tear-jerking at times, but as a whole.....it was also a very beautiful and wonderful read.

Imo- Sophie Moss is absolutely brilliant. Her main cast of characters are so vibrant and real that it is difficult to let such stories, and new friends you've suddenly come to love and respect, go. You really have to feel for Annie, struggling in a new town and desperate to find some peace for her little girl. After all; this poor child has been through pure hell and back, and at such a young age, too. Who knows if someone like her can ever live a normal life after what she's been through.

I felt the same way about Will. A Navy SEAL on leave. After losing his family and then later ....most of his Seal Team, Will is struggling with PTSD along with decisions about what he will do with his property. I was a little apprehensive about how Will’s mental health would be dealt with in this book. I’m used to a lot of romance plots that use PTSD (or other health issues) as an excuse to create a caregiver-romance storyline, or stories in which the romance magically solves any mental health problems, and I find this a little problematic. But I really shouldn't have worried, because as I stated before, Sophie Moss has written a very complex and compelling story...and it was perfection at it's best!

The true friendships that were brought to the forefront...... and the way the whole town pulls together, for the sake of helping these two lost souls get through a very traumatic time in their lives, was so heart-warming. That includes Riley, too, even though she's not a human. I believe that most animals have more healing powers than our human species do. And Riley was benifical to the healing of both Taylor and Will. I also believe that Will and Taylor's understanding what the other was going through helped out tremendously, too.

I’ve never read other books by Sophie Moss, but admit that once I finished Wind Chime Café I was craving more from this author. I will be checking out more of her books in the near future, for sure!
I am so glad to find Ms. Sophie Moss, a former journalist, is an exceptional writer and I was also very happy to see good editing and proofing (the scary thing about trying a new or indie author IMO). This adorable and moving story was well-paced and suspenseful. And can I say I wanna be friends with these characters! This book is not the first I've read referencing 9/11, but it is the first with a school shooting event as a major plot device. Be aware, even though it is thoughtfully dealt with, you'll need a pack of tissues handy. Thankfully my favorite character, Riley (a playful golden lab), is there to lighten it up ) I rarely give 5 star reviews to contemporary romance books but I enjoyed this one so much that I rounded up from a solid 4.5 stars. Can't wait to read Moss's next!
I was introduced to Sophie Moss through her magical Seal Island Trilogy. I loved each one of those books, and I couldn’t wait to read her new contemporary romance—Wind Chime Café. I read the initial blurb, and she had me with the words “Navy SEAL Will Dozier.” I absolutely adore contemporary romances with military characters, and Sophie did not disappoint.

This book is emotional, gripping, and simply wonderful. Sophie doesn’t just weave a neat fairy tale. Her story is raw, tear jerking, and beautiful. Annie is seeking a much needed fresh start for her and her daughter on Heron Island. Will came home for what he thought was a quick trip to tie up some loose ends. But from the moment they meet, there is an instant connection. Sophie doesn’t force the love story between the two of them, but allows it to grow naturally. Sophie is a master of imagery and weaving in animals and nature into her stories.

The secondary characters are also wonderful, and I can’t wait to read their books too. This is a must read for contemporary romance fans.
